Take a small portable radio set to AM and tuned between stations. Move it close to suspected noise sources and listen for a change in the static.

Try this with the circuit breaker panel with the door open.

All the electrical noise generated by the appliances in your house shows up at the panel. Placing noisy appliances on the opposite leg from the one that supplies the audio system is no longer practical, as just about all appliances these days contain microcomputers and associated switching power supplies that are always 'on.'

I think your audio system suffers from the proximity of the panel. The cure is to put noise filters on all the appliances. This can be both tedious and expensive, but should help your sound.
