In the UK, where I live, the ElectroClear for UK use has no way to plug devices into the thing itself, only permitting deployment of the device in the proximity of the system. I acquired one ElectroClear last week. I use a Ben Duncan Pure Power isolation transformer from which all my equipment is run. The earth on the output side of the Pure Power unit is not tied to neutral but ‘floats’, the pd neutral to earth being less than the pd live to earth. I am strongly disinclined to run any filters on the secondary side of the isolation transformer. I plugged the ElectroClear into a vacant socket on the ring, adjacent to the socket from which I run the Pure Power unit. I would follow the advice offered by others some time ago on the asylum to allow at least 24 hours of operation of the ElectroClear before judging the efficacy of the ElectroClear in situ. I have found clear benefit from use. Not so much in, say, the elimination of mechanical noise of equipment, though one item employed in my system has benefited slightly to that effect, but more in the ‘sound’. Without overstating the changes in the sound, I would say, in accord with some of the claims on the manufacturer’s web site, the benefits effected include improved instrument timbre, particularly for woodwind, and simply the sense that reproduction is more musical, more like the experience of music making in the hall or auditorium. I cannot say if moving the unit about the sockets in the room, or indeed, outside of the room, will produce the effect mentioned by Tuckers — though I am mindful of his earlier comments on this board apropos the unit which I considered when deciding to purchase the ElectroClear — but would be inclined to experiment with placement as he suggests. I am considering, however, purchase of a second unit to ascertain the effect of use of said.
