Dimiter- It's possible a new woofer will get better bass response in your system but it's also possible that 1: Your current woofer isn't properly tuned to the enclosure and 2: The new woofer won't be either. In either case you won't be happy with the results. As far as matching the woofer and tweeter levels, the easiest way is to add an "L" pad consisting of a series and parallel resistor in the tweeter circuit. This will reduce the output so it matches that of the woofer. If you don't have a copy of the Loudspeaker Design Cookbook or other reference sources it might be time to look into one. There are also some online design sources to calculate "L" pad resistor values.
