Could be power supply capacitors, if it is a 60 Hz hum (esp. if it has an on-board power amp you get hum with volume turned down). Another simple possibility (again assuming there's at least a preamp on board...those tubes must be doing something!) is an open or loose ground somewhere in the signal path (or even a ground loop).I assume you tried reversing the plug in the wall outlet? Sometimes that's all it takes to reduce or eliminate hum.
