I have not played with them or measured them, buit after visiting their website, and seeing the explanation they provide, I believe they have developed the unit to avoid the ASC bass trap patent. In my personal opinion, any resonant absorber, Helmhotz or otherwise, is prone to energy dstorage, and could actually prolong bass notes at certain frequencies, so that while some room modes might be improved, others may be created, and not all the modes would be absorbed equally well.The ASC Tube Traps are a much more linear broadband resistive based type of bass absorber, and will tend to absorb room modes much more evenly and consistently, providing better overall results.
