Re: Need advice on electrical outlet

I did a lot of experimentation with receptacles a few years ago including various Hubbells, Pass and Seymours (the basic receptacle for the Acmes), Arrow Hart, Leviton, etc. I have no experience with the Furutech or the Oyaides (the Oyaides are just too expensive for me and I firmly believe you need to run the same receptacle everywhere in your system, ie. in line conditioners and for multiple outlets in your system) to really get a feel for what the receptacle is doing. Experimenting with those receptacles would get mighty expensive and mixing receptacles does not allow you to realize what one receptacle really sounds like and they do sound different.

From your description of what you are seeking, I'd agree with a number of the posters below with their suggestion of the Hubbell 8200H or 8300H (make sure you buy the H designated Hubbell-the plain 8200 and 8300 have nickel plated contacts like your PS Audio which is actually heaped with extra nickel which, in my opinion, makes it worse, not better).

By far the best deal on cryoed 8200H or 8300H Hubbells is at Takefiveaudio. He may charge a bit more for delivery to the U.S. but if you are purchasing more than 1 receptacle you are still going to be way ahead of the game. Also keep in mind the Take Five price is in Canadian $$ so it is actually about 15% less or about $18 or $19. Buy the cryoed version-it is well worth it, but if you want to do yourself a favor and make sure that the receptacle will sound its best, replace your refrigerator or freezer receptacle with the cryoed Hubbell when you get it and run the fridge/freezer on each half of the receptacle for 2 weeks to fully burn it/them in. Then put them in your system. I'm sure you'll be happy, especially for the outlay.
