I've been rolling the tubes in my new Audio Research PH3 SE and found the best result was to leave the Sovtek 6992 tubes in, as opposed to Siemens CCa [1960's versions]and other 'more' premium tubes I've tested. How could I improve on the sound I wondered ? Then I remembered the old inner tube isolation tweak I used on my CD player. The difference an 8" inner tube makes under the unit is by no means subtle. It is HUGE!!!
This has to be the best upgrade ever - with this isolation device in place, I have found the sound is more of just about everything... more focused, 3 dimensional, more texture on the instruments, sweeter, increased ambience and so on.
If you haven't tried it, I BEG you give it a shot, there's no going back.
