for the 20mm and 31.8mmI first saw these little guys here on AA a few weeks back and based upon the good reviews from 6moons, I ponied up the $50 for two of the 3A 31.8mm x 6mm fuses from Brian at aaudioimports.comAs you can see in pictures they look like regular fuses only gold plated and with directional arrows. They look like nothing special until...
...you pop the suckers in your gear! I replaced each fuse on the balanced digital audio and video outputs in my Monster HTPS 7000 PC.
Right off hand they only made a slightly noticeable amount of difference. I could immediately hear more low level details in my music and especially my reference video games. I wouldn't say it changed the actual sound positively or negatively. Visually there was no significant difference. I was told by Brian that they will improve greatly after 3-4 days of break in. And boy was he right.
After 72 hours or so, I was hearing those first low level details in my music and games even more. It was like the volume was turned up only on those micro details. Like they were brought to the forefront more. They still did not color the sound, which I really liked. On video, the images just snapped into focus even more. I had to turn the sharpness on my set down five notches out of thirty. It was a huge improvement!
I highly recommend these fuses to anybody. Getting these results just from putting them in my PC was incredible. I can't even imagine swapping them out in source components. They don't color your sound at all IMO and just bring out these little details that you were missing. They are even more recommended for HT buffs like me. The video clarity will astound you!
Product Weakness: Justifying paying $25 for a little fuse. But you'll be happy you did after it breaks in. Product Strengths: Cost/Benefit ratio can't be beat. Improved audio a great deal but video even more.
