You will have to experiment with it; no one can give definite

recipes valid for every system.

Start by just laying the whole thing on top of your CD player, near the power cord. If your player is like many, this will kill the treble and make it sound dull. If you hear no difference, your CD player is excellent and may not need further treatment.

Next, try laying it on top of the power conditioner. If this kills the treble, then you will need to use small bits of it to get the damping you want. Experiment with care, since the ERS cloth contains conductive bits which are exposed at the edges. Do not let this get in contact with live terminals, or even rest upon insulated wire, as the sharp edge can cut through the insulation.

I'm a big fan of Power Wraps on cables. The purpose is similar but the mechanism is different. These devices allow the user to treat just the cables that support RF standing waves. They have less overall influence on the audio signal, but can also reduce the treble response if placed over unshielded interconnect cables.
