Anyone with the YS Audio Symphonies tube pre should really consider taking out the input Wima's, ERO coupling caps, & very bad Philips output caps. This allready fine sounding pre for the money should be considered a stand out among any pre's anywere at this price point. swap all the above with Auricap's. 6 total in signal path. Just got them in last night & fired it up, At first the drastic change was almost not welcome,Bass was lean but much tigher, the midrange was crazy good, actually everything changed for a very noticeable good, these are very transparent caps, speakers have truely disappeared now. After seriouse study on Auricap before going that route, I new that the break in on these is 40 hrs min. At the 20 hr mark the bass is back with a vengence, tight as all get out.I am actualy stunned that this easily done mod made such a improvement on a allready good sounding system,If you have this pre, order the 6 Auricaps, for under 100.00 you will never match this mod for this kind of money IMHO.
System is as follows:Yamaha MX-2000 amp
YS Audio symphonies tube pre
JVC XL-Z1050 CDP into MF X-dac
Paradigm Studio 40's on custom 19 1/2"sand filled steel stands on granite.
ZU Libtec speaker cables
Zu GEDE IC pre to amp- 89259 w/bullets CDP to dac - Cardas w/bullets dac to pre.
Nothing to what most of you guy's run , but It can run hard with many.
If you have any questions on placement & values for the Auricap mod just let me know.
Can't wait till this damn thing hit's 40hrs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
