I have been modifying my Sony 999ES player with good success lately.
I haven't finished yet as I'm still trying to tune the player to my likings. I still have a bunch of op-amps to try...
I was looking at the linear power supply that provides +/-12V DC to the analog out stage and it consists of a NJM4580E-D-TE2 surface mount dual Op-amp labeled in the service manual as "REGULATOR CONTROL" and two IC's (transistors): 2SC5171 for (+), and 2SA1930 for (-).
I was wondering if replacing the NJM4580E-D-TE2 dual op-amp, or the transistors could benefit the power supply and improve resolution.
Has any of you tried to swap this op-amp, and what were the result? Since this is a surface mount, I don't want to start swaping it if the improvements aren't that significant.
Thanks in advance for any feedback.
Julien
