Damping/Isolation question about Toshiba DVD player

Hi,

Based on the reviews in the digital forum, I purchased the Toshiba 3960 DVD player. I am impressed with the sound, especially for $70. I have four bags of sand under the 3960 and two on top. Are there other relatively inexpensive damping/isolation methods that you think may work better or as good as sandbags?
