have you tried CD-Rs burned at really low speeds? My 16x burns never worked at all in my player, but when I started to do 4x and later 1x, it worked just fine.If it is "designed" to not read CD-R, just get a different player. It's not worth the hassle to try to teach it new tricks if it can't even do that.
