J.D. Step up to using neon based gas tubes, instead of MOV's. They are not as 'fast' but fast enough. They have low capacitance, and don't fail like MOV's do. Commercially, they cost more than MOV's, but they don't effect the sound as much as MOV's . We used these in the Bybee AC protection systems that I have been associated with, up to the present. They are available in the Allied Catalog, etc.
