Can anyone help a tube nubie make a good decision on tube amps? I dont have local availability to demo most models. I currently have SS Musical Fidelity A3CR gear, and looking to improve soundstaging, and overall tonality. Current speakers in my home are MM Decapo, and EPOS M15. I like listening to Jazz and classical. Room is 15 X 20, but opens to other rooms which extends overall size to 15 X 35.
My spouse requests that in moving to tubes detail not be lost, and no increase in background noise (hiss). So I am looking for a detailed, yet sweet quiet used tube amp for about 2K. Short list currently includes CARY SA280 V12, Cary Rocket 88, and Rogue M120. Would these work for me, are there others I should research. I may have to buy via the net without listening, so your help would be appreciated.
