Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

Hello,I like to stop here often to see whats going on, but I don't typically post much... However, I just came upon an article in the June 17 edition of Electronic Engineering Times that I thought you Tube Asylum boys might find interesting...
"Vacuum tubes born again in nanotube MEMS" (p51)
Some quotes from the article intro...
"The device uses microelectromicanical systems (MEMS) to create anode, grid and cathode components covered with carbon nanotubes that meassures only 100 microns square"
"We believe that the first applications... ...will probably be to replace large, bulky solid-state (!!!!) basestations for microwave transmission"
"But eventually you could use these devices for any amplification need -- even high-fidelity audio amps" (wow.. amazing...)
Jim.
