Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
My Audible Illusions M3A has only 5.6V on the heaters, with all four tubes installed. I've been all through the heater supply: replaced the 5 electrolytic caps and checked the 4 rectifier diodes, tried different tubes, and it seems this is just the way it is. Voltage with only TWO tubes is 6.7. Could they be using the same unregulated filament supply for the 2-tube line-only (and solid-state MC phono version) as for the four tube MM version I have? That would explain it.... and maybe it's not a huge deal even though the idea bothers me aesthetically. Any further comments, jk?
