Hi Robert,
Since your opinions on 6SN7 tubes coincident so much with my own, I decided to try one you suggested that I didn't yet have- Sylvania commercial VT-231 with green letterings.
Can you take a look at the link and tell me if the tube on the right is the one you were talking about? Its box is also shown in the middle. Printed on it said "Date Pkg 10/53". The green lettering on the base says "JAN-CHS 6SN7GT", "MADE IN U.S.A.", and "SYLVANIA". There is also (printed) code of "D2M" below "6SN7GT" on the glass. For comparison a Sylvania VT-231 ('45) is shown on the left. They have almost the same constructions, but not identical.
By the way, I have not auditioned them yet. My amp that use them is currently on the bench prepared to be repaired in a few days. I do hope they can keep the good things about Sylvania VT-231 and approach the bass quality of Ken-Rad VT-231.
