I've been dealing with old stock tubes for many years. Here's the final word on these RCA "7316" tubes. I was baffled because I couldn't remember any U.S. made tube having a foil strip D getter. I have never seen a RCA 12AU7 with this getter, nor have I ever seen a RCA 7316 in the flesh or in any RCA tube manual.
These so called 7316 tubes are actually RCA 5963 tubes. I have tons of them. Most of these have 1956,57,58 date codes. They also have a 2 Letter etched code. I have posted a link to a closed eBay auction which shows the ones I'm talking about, and if you look at tubes 1 & 3 of the bottom row of the SECOND picture you'll see these codes.
Finally, after testing and selling thousands of RCA tubes...THAT FONT ON OGR's TUBES IS JUST PLAIN WRONG!!! I even pointed out OGR's tubes to my wife and asked her, "What is the first thing you notice with these tubes...?" She agreed, weird font.
I sell tubes on Ebay and this guy is a P.O.S. that makes the few of us try to make an honest living look bad. I CAN'T for the life of me figure out how he has 100% feedback as these tubes aren't the only shady thing I've seen from him. Caveat Emptor!
"I KNOW you can hear it, but are you REALLY listening?"
