Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
sorry for a basic question, but I'm a noobie. Be gentle....
I have a Manley Steelhead that I'd like to play around with different tubes on. Per the specs, it has 2 6922 SOVTEK Russian for gain and 4 JAN NOS GE 7044 or 5687 for output buffers.
Question 1: Can I use ANY 6922 (or 7044 or 5687) designated tube to replace these?
Question 2: any recommendations on what tubes to try?
Question 3: any recommendations on which to experiment with first - the gain tubes or the output buffer tubes?
I'm not dissatisfied with current tubes - just curious do some swapping and see what differences I notice.
