Back in the 90's I had a preamp that I loaded with (commercially available) upgrade boards. I loved it's sound but I actually began to hate it because it would fail about every 30-45 days, taking a linestage tube with it. A tube that would be considered rare, expensive and highly sort after even by 90's standards.
Now I had a box of these "expensive" dead tubes. I sent them with the accursed preamp as an act of remorse for the new owner.
