If you do get anything from rolling 6SN7s in this circuit, then Sylvania's old stock tubes are a good tube to try. Since you prolly don't want to spend a lot you might want to try the green label GTBs. They have a relatively rich mellow tone. If you want a quicker tube with more precise treble consider the WGTs or if saving money there too then the WGTAs. The older you get the better in some peoples estimation including my own. If you can try the GTs with the Bottom getters made in the 40s and 50s including the military version VT-231. Some of the very best of the Sylvanias 6SN7s are the Military WWII tube the 'W' . A short bottle of that version can be found for as little as $50 but they go up from there to the tall metal base. The price of those you ask ? The stock answer= what someone will pay for one the day you ask.
