I also have a pair of the Dynaco Mk VI amps, which I bought to modify 25 years ago, but have done nothing with them. The power supply is not optimum and a single bias for four 8417 outputs is a recipe for disaster. Replacing the 7199 would also help. I have scratch built amps using 8417 tubes, with excellent results. The only downside is they are expensive on Ebay. Fortunately I stocked up over the years and have about 40 in my tube stash.
