RE: Gold Lion KT66 re-issues

I now have about 30 hours on the quad of GL KT66.
These are seriously excellent tubes!
Airtime's description is right on. These tubes have serious energy at the frequency extremes. The highs are very extended ard open. More so than any KT88 I have heard (or EL34 for that matter) Are the highs as good as a GEC KT 66? They sound like it but I have not directly compared them yet. The bass is very tight and deep. Less fat than KT88 bass, but still more rich and realistic the solid state highly damped bass. Rocking bass. And the midrange IS "holographic ". What do I mean by the term holographic? The music floats free of the speakers in a natural, non-electronic fashion. There is depth and space around the musicians. There is air and bloom, less bloom than a KT88 or an EL34, but enough to make the sound natural and realistic.
This is a tube that is made for rock. There is energy and drive, without the excessive tubey sound of many others. Details are clearly resolved without the sound becoming sterile or hard. Hall sounds and other spartial effects are clearly resolved.
Some people who prefer EL34 or KT88 may find the sound slightly lean. I find it just right in the Rogue. I prefer a faster, more extended and detailed sound. It is definitely a matter of taste and the partnering equipment, other tubes and the room.
My only concern is reliability and longevity, questions that will be answered over time. If they sound like this for another 3 thousand hours or so I will be a very happy camper indeed.
Highly recommended if your amp can use them, especially if you listen to a lot of rock.
