You think of a cheaper tube like that to be just adequate.When these tubes were able to challenge and even beat the metal base,the Amperex EL34 DD getter,and the Telefunken dual pupil EL34s,it was time to sit up and take notice.The other tubes sound great as well but,the for money those other vintage tubes cost,they should have slammed the EH 6CA7s.
Maybe some of EH 6CA7's advantage is due to the fact that are perfectly matched.The Philips metal base EL34s I ran were in matched pairs..
Those stones are going to be broken apart with lithrotripsy.
