I suppose in theory the 6550 would be the bigger heat generator. That said, with a small tube amp like the ST 70, heat should not be a problem unless your listening room is the size of a closet or you don't have a properly functioning AC unit. I run an ST 70 nearly year around in a family/dining room of approx. 500 sq. ft. Central AC with a single ceiling fan in the above mentioned space. Occasionally haul out my Classdaudio 254, but for convenience only. I'm in Tucson, so the evenings are cooler, but still plenty of heat present. More an issue of room size, air movement( fan) and the efficiency of your cooling unit in my experience. Now if you were talking Atma-Sphere MA-2's, I could feel your pain.
