EL34 and heat output

You guys are pretty smart so here's my question.

One day when I get my stereos out of storage!!!! I was wondering if a particular output tube would generate more heat. Either through more draw on the rectifier tube or the output tube itself.

I'm using GL KT-66's in my VTA ST-70 and they are wonderful!!!! Since my quixotic search for the perfect stereo is over I want to play with what I have. But I do have a heat problem here in Arizona.

So would a EL34 generate less heat the KT66,6550, etc...?

I find myself browsing at stereos but not actually wanting to buy anything. With my Sherwood and VTA ST-70 I'm very satisfied. Besides my days of finding that Citation or Marantz 8b are gone ($$).
