A tube tester can show the difference between a 12AX7 and 12AU7 - plate structures are the same; the 12AX7 has a closer grid spacing inside.
Eye tube is probably EM80 or EM85 - the latter has gotten hard to find. But the cathode stains might mean it's worn out...
