This never happens to ME

My wife cajoled me into a trip this morning to a local resale shop. She was looking for a small table, and told me it was a very nice store that sold mostly furniture and wall art type stuff, not the usual "organized junk" kinda place. So I begrudgingly went along, and while she was looking for a table, I spied a metal rack over in the back corner with electronic type stuff sitting on it. Nothing worth even taking off the shelf and looking at on the electronics, but then I saw a large cardboard box on the bottom shelf covered with dust.....and the bottom of a tube sticking out of it. So I pulled out the box, and there were probably 70 or 80 tubes in it, most in boxes and some not. I looked through maybe a dozen of them seeing nothing interesting when the store owner walked up and asked me if I knew anything about them. I told her I used tubes in my audio system, but all I was seeing here were TV tubes. She said she had picked those up about 3 years ago from an estate she bought and that they'd been sitting there ever since. Then she said she'd be happy to throw them in with the table my wife had just bought if I wanted to take them. I'm thinking "her dumpster or mine, but what the hell." So I bring them home, and at the very bottom of the box, oh my! They all appear unused, and test out nicely on my Hickok (only lists minimum gm values, not "new" values). Worth more than the table. :)
