In Reply to: I have the opportunity to buy an ARC VT100MkIII - for QUAD 63s - any issues?!?_Issues posted by Timbo in Oz on June 6, 2016 at 02:54:09:
I will stick with the LEAKs for cold season use. From mid Autumn until mid-Spring.One as a spare for the QUADs, OR Strap them as monos.
I also intend to to try to get 20Hz bass, and I'm following advice from Tomservo and Duke le Jeune.
So, the QUADs will see a signal HP'd 1st order from 150Hz, ie 6db down at 75hz and 12db at 38Hz. So I'll still hear them
? The LP bass feed will be 3rd order at 150 Hz.
I will be using two (100wpc/8ohm) stereo SS power amps for bass and ELF, each driving push-pull driver sealed subs placed as close to the QUADs on their stands (DIY over next few months), and against the walls.
Noting that each bass power amp will be working OOPhase, thus placing less demands on their PSUs, that's IIRC.
Plus two of my spheres down to 35Hz to form an arc with the subs ala Duke's 'swarm' idea. They will be driven by a 60wpc integrated amp with its ~ warp filter on to stop cone bounce - as they are reflex enclosures.
The idea is to drive my L-shaped room from several different points and get as smooth a sound from 150hz down as we can - before I use the two 1/3rd octave eq'rs for final trimming up. I'm hoping they'll mainly be used to get down close to 20Hz flat, plus help with any remaining peaks if necessary.
For *warm weather work into the QUADs? A serviced Perreaux 6000C which I've just bought? $ Au $850. BIG 380 wpc stage amp.
*? we regularly get days over 40C here in Summer.
More to do? Yes.
Warmest
