...how a component could be damaged by use of a tube with different current requirements. For example (and as being discussed), a 6922 is specified for 300ma of heater current, and the 6N1P at 600ma. If I plug a 6922 into an amp designed for a 6N1P, I can understand how the tube could (would) be fried due to 2x the heater current being applied to it. Conversely, if I plug a 6N1P into an amp designed for a 6922, the amp should only be supplying 300ma to the heater, so how would the amp be damaged? It's only supplying 300ma to the heater of whatever tube is put in there (assuming, of course, pin compatibility between the tubes).
Does the tube itself change the current output of the component? Can someone help explain this?
Thanks in advance!
Bill
