I own three Sherwood tube amps in the 5000 series. One take 7868s, the next 7591 (?) and another plain old EL 84s. I use the 7868 S5000 II the most. It has been restored the most as well.
The EL-84 was the Beatles tube, used in their Vox amps.
I agree it is a great little tube making sweet music. I worry about them though because they run at full blast as it were. I have gone through some,by comparison I have rarely had to replace a KT-88 or EL34.
