The EL84 is a very capable tube. I think it's somewhat under-appreciated because it doesn't measure up to the 6L6 and EL34 classes in terms of output power. Paired with high quality OPTs, the EL84 offers clarity and dynamics that can be difficult to achieve with other tube types.
