The type that Upscale Audio recommenced (NOS made in GB that he called Mullards I believe) since he also said this pre eats up tubes. But the Russian Electroharmonix from CJ lasted over 10 years, so I don't understand such statements about this eating up tubes.
In any case, I was wrong about sonic degradation on the CJ EH ones since I did notice that cymbals, etc. were not a clean as before.
W/ the Mullards, this is back to normal, but these never have any soundstage depth, so, I expect that I will order a set from CJ. The Mullards also do not sound as lush or romantic as I like; less musical, much less engaging. The only thing that they sound good with is like chamber music strings, but it's more analytical, although with great timbre.
I found that Herbies tube dampers don't seem to help the sound of the Mullards, unlike the ElectroHarmonix.
