I like both companie's products. I worked in grad school at a high end store that sold Cary and evaluated Rouge gear. I met Dennis Had (no longer at Cary)and Billy and the two guys who were running Rouge and all seemed like really nice folks who knew what they were doing. In general, we though the Cary products were a bit better sounding than the Rouge stuff (which cost less at the time). Cary products generally have a bit of that 3D classic tube sound that makes all your recordings sound lovely. The Rouge products sounded a bit more modern.
With the Cary amp, you get made in the USA, hardwired construction, tube rectification, a combination of octal and 12 pin drivers, in house PT/OT construction (with long history of sounding at least pretty good), nice finish.
The Rouge amp is made in the USA, has circuit board construction, SS rectification, and is well regarded. If i had to choose one, I would go with the Cary but you probably can't go wrong no matter which one you decide on.
