Scrolling may be easy but a link is easier and is a trivial operation to add. Also, can't speak for you but the majority of my web browsing these days is done on a smart phone or tablet. While convenient, one drawback is the necessarily smaller display that in turn makes it easy to scroll past something here esp if the post was a few days ago leaving many intervening threads to scroll thru. Thus the niceness of a link. Another advantage of a link is that it doesn't preclude scrolling if that's one's preference.
