Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |
|
Those familiar with CJ amps, and this amp in particular, know that they use an adjustment pot and and LED for each tube in order to set bias levels. Turn up the pot until the LED lights, back off slightly, easy-peasey, your bias is set. User-friendly for people who don't want to think about meters and milliamps. :)
This works fine with EL34/6CA7 tubes that I have used in the amp, but I find I have difficulty with KT-77s in this amp. That is, I can turn the bias pot all the way up to "eleven", and the LED never lights. Now, it all sounds fine, so I'm happy. But I'm perplexed what is going on here; perhaps someone with more circuit knowledge than I can explain what is happening here?
