This is a tough one.The advantage the 6L6 amp has is the massive variety of output tubes to choose from.You can run everything 6L6gs, to 5881s, to 7581s, to 6P3S-Es,and even 807s if you make up or buy some adapter sockets..An 807 is more or less or a 6L6 with a plate cap and a 5 pin socket.The 807 amp you have have more horse power..Typically you can tweak the mids in an amp with capacitors in the feedback loop.807s are cheap to buy even in NOS/NIB..Why not try some 807 RCA or GE 807 black plates before you make your decision..The extra power and lower primary impedance from having four output tubes per channel can be a big advantage when driving more difficult loads should the need arise.
