No, this is no headscratcher, it's a bad tube. You have already
diagnosed it.
It might be deficiency's in the amp that provokes the fault,
but as the problem moves with the tube you have nailed it.
Your amp is an infinitesimally better tester then any tubetester.
Sell the tester and buy an extra tubeset for the money!
