Wow that's sooo cool man. Just PURE awesome. I've never come across a 300PS. That thing must be interesting. You have it setup a little differently. The input tubes are funny. And the 300PS had a weird EQ. anyway, still, well done :D Tell us more about it!
Sourcing transformers must have been a heck of a job. I know Mercury Magnetics has the whole lot available for the 300PS. Apparently, the output transformer for the 400PS eludes them still.
And yes, these amps are very hard on tubes. Truly, they operate them efficiently into oblivion. I'm STILL not sure what works best other than the GE. The JJ KT88 is stable, but it took 100 hours to wear in 1000 hours. The life was literally sapped out of the tube after a while. Perhaps it was my ear, but the GE's keep on giving. I'd like to see how a Preferred Series KT88 (also Penta KT88SC) works out, or the Shuguang Treasure KT120. The KT120 would run the price of a GE, but would come with some warranty.
