Eric Barbour penned some articles about using 6BL7, 6BX7, etc. for VTV, and pointed out linearity of these tubes were excellent. They do have some advantages over 6/12SN7 tubes.In the circuit they are being used, the results are readily noticeable. The biggest difference is with low level detail when listening to classical music. Much less hiss/background noise when playing back the audio signal. Vocals also sound more realistic. 6SN7's are known for tending to be a bit on the noisy side.
