RE: Which tube position has most influence on sound,12AU7, 12AX7, or KT88?

Do a search here for warm 12AX/AU7's. Mullard is the standard answer but quality samples are getting hard to find. Since you rather are new to tubes I suggest buying from a reputable source and avoid epay unless you really are sure of what you are getting.

All that said, the new production JJ ECC803S is on the warm side of neutral and won't break the bank.
