Yes, it's a good tube. A 1950s black plate 12AX7 is better, but the 'A gray plate is fine.
IMO/IME, it was front page NY Times news if RCA made a bad tube type. RCA is very much a go to brand, when considering a replacement for a type you lack experience with.
