Tubes Asylum Questions about tubes and gear that glows. FAQ |

Hi all -
I recently bought a Yaqin MS-30L integrated amp. It sounded nice right out of the box and then about two weeks later it went all grainy and harsh at the high end.
So, I checked the bias (which is easily checked and adjusted from the top of the unit) and each power tube (EL34b) was high by at least .05v. The correct value should be .45v.
I adjusted it back to .45v and it really smoothed things out.
Is this something I need to check periodically? Or just during break-in (if there is such a thing)?
Thank you.
Biff
