I noticed this a long time ago doing experiments with tube dampeners while tube rolling. I was rolling some 6sn7gt, Sylvania, tall boys/bad boys, silly name. Anyway, I found that just a little bit of microphonics added a hint of "excitement" to the sound. I think it makes the sound more "hifi". After that I changed my 6sn7 tubes to 5692 which were the most neutral sounding. No frequencies stood out over any other and although at first blush that sound seemed almost bland I liked to think it was more accurate. Use of tube dampers on the 5692 did not affect the sound in any meaningful way so I did not use any. Regards, Dak
