On the 3 6DJ8 Counterpoint preamps, one of he 6DJ8's will be a phono-only tube. This one can be identified by simply following the traces from the phono input till they hit a tube socket on the PCB.
The other two 6DJ8's are the linestage. On all inputs besides phono, the input signal is padded down some 30 or so dB before reaching the volume pot to account for the high gain of the linestage section.
