I just posted a similar story in Tubes diy a few days back. I had a bunch of 26 tubes that tested way low, but I threw a pair of them in my 26 preamp and they played just fine. Went through the yest of them and out of 15 of them I found 10 that played just fine. Somebody forgot to tell the tubes they were any good. From now on the only real tube test for me is in a working circuit as long as there are no shorts, etc.
