I used to believe that the person undergoes break-in rather than the parts.
That is , until I built a very expensive 300b amp with all new parts. The first few weeks I thought that there was something wrong with the amp. It had very pronounced and grating highs. After about two weeks, the amps smoothed out and became listenable. To this day, it is the most pronounced change in sound I have experienced, and that was 20 years ago.
