If you went to a drug store back in the day to buy a new tube for your amplifier, but you were lead to believe that you absolutely had to have a transconductance matched pair, where would you get them?

You would need to obtain them from the military or a university laboratory at that point, which was pretty difficult.

The internet now affords us such luxuries.
