A thought (perhaps an insane one); we are generally quite aware that many electronic components (tube perhaps in particular) require a break in period before they settle in and display their true capabilities. Would it be too much of a stretch to believe that the nature of that break in could colour the results?
Tubes broken in with a straight diet of the 'Blue Danube' could long term sound different that tubes broken in with a straight diet of 'Nine Inch Nails'?
Not much more essoteric than some cable theories I've heard.
